The eNAM Portal (National Agriculture Market) is an online trading platform launched by the Government of India to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities. It connects existing APMC mandis (Agricultural Produce Market Committees) across states into a single digital marketplace, enabling transparent price discovery and fair trade for farmers.
The eNAM Portal was launched on 14 April 2016 and is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare through the Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC).
The main objectives of the eNAM Portal are:
The aim was to establish one national market of agricultural produce.
To ensure better price discovery through transparent online bidding
To reduce the role of middlemen in agricultural trade
To provide farmers with access to more buyers across states
To promote digital and cashless transactions in mandis
The eNAM Portal supports trading of various agricultural commodities, including:
Cereals (wheat, rice, maize)

These technologies help improve transparency, efficiency, and trust in agricultural marketing.
Some challenges faced by the eNAM Portal include:
Limited awareness among farmers
Inadequate infrastructure in some mandis
Variations in state APMC regulations
Limited adoption of quality assaying
Improved price transparency
Increased farmer participation in digital markets
