Import Export Code, also referred to as the IEC code, is a 10-digit identifying number that is allocated by the DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade), which belongs to the Department of Commerce, Government of India. This code is also sometimes referred to as Importer Exporter Code.

Introduction

Import Export Code, also known as the IE Code, is an identification number that is 10 digits long and allotted by the DGFT, or it is the Director General of Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce, Government of India. Import Export Code is also referred as Importer Exporter Code. An Import Export Code is necessary for any business dealing in export or import business in the Indian territory. It is not feasible without an Import/Export Code.
